MyPaperwork
What is MyPaperwork?
MyPaperwork helps you prepare your court forms. You can use the website on your computer or smartphone.
How MyPaperwork works:
Answer simple questions: The website will guide you step-by-step through a list of questions.
Forms are made for you: Based on your answers, the system automatically creates your completed court forms.
Once your paperwork is ready, how you give it to the court depends on your case type:
Send your papers online instantly: For a Name or Sex Designation Change or Civil Cohabitant Protective Order, you can click a button to send your completed papers straight to the court online to start your case. This is called case initiation.
Download and turn in your papers yourself: For all other cases, this website will create your papers, but you must download them to print, mail, or bring them to the courthouse yourself.
Once a case is officially opened with the court, you can track its progress online from your phone or computer using a separate website called MyCase. For some case types, you can also use MyCase to send more papers to the court later on in your case without going to the courthouse.
What kinds of cases can MyPaperwork help me with?
- Divorce - if you are asking for a divorce (the petitioner) or responding to a divorce (the respondent).
- Parentage - if you are asking for custody, support or paternity for unmarried parents (the petitioner) or responding (the respondent).
- Civil Cohabitant Protective Order - if you are asking for a court order to protect against an adult cohabitant. (Case initiation is available. You can send these forms straight to the court online.)
- Child Protective Order - if you are asking for a court order to protect a minor child under 18 from physical or sexual abuse.
- Civil Stalking Injunction - if you are asking for a court order that tells one person (respondent) to stop stalking another person (petitioner).
- Dating Violence Protective Order - if you are asking for a court order to protect against someone you are dating (or used to date) but have never lived with, been married to, or had a child with.
- Sexual Violence Protective Order - if you are a victim of sexual assault and you have no dating or family relationship with the person who attacked you.
- Name or Sex Designation Change - if you are asking the court to legally change your name, your sex designation or both. (Case initiation is available. You can send these forms straight to the court online.)
- Guardianship Reports (annual accounting, status and inventory reports) - if you are a court-appointed guardian and need to file required periodic reports about the protected person or their estate.

Having problems? Watch this video for help.
When you log in, click "Start Here" to start your interview.
MyPaperwork will ask you questions. Look for asterisks (*) and text in red to tell you when there are invalid answers.
Need some help? Watch this video for some guidance.
After you complete the interview, click the Sign and Download button to generate your paperwork. Only click this button once! Clicking it repeatedly will slow down the process.
How long will it take? At least 15 minutes. It takes a lot of computer power to get your paperwork ready. When several people try to process their paperwork at the same time, it could take about an hour before your papers are ready. Look for an email from MyCase to see when your papers are ready.
Once you get the email: Log back in to MyPaperwork to view your completed forms. At the bottom of the document window, you will see your options:
Click the green File button if you are preparing a Civil Cohabitant Protective Order or a Name or Sex Designation Change and want to send your papers straight to the court online.
Click the blue Download button for all other cases, or if you prefer to turn your forms in yourself by mail, email, or in person. See our page on Filing Procedures for help on how to file.
Make sure you download your papers within 7 days. After that, they will be deleted and you will need to start the download process again.

On the Case Progress screen, change the bubble selections to match your current situation. Scroll down and update all of the questions on this screen.
On the Rule 5 screen, update the date you plan to send the other party a copy of these final documents in an existing case.
On the Next Steps screen (the last screen), click to sign/download.
Look for the confirmation email telling you that your documents are ready (this takes at least 15 minutes, or up to an hour if the system is busy).
After you get the confirmation email, return to the MyPaperwork home screen and click on the blue icon with the downward-pointing arrow to download your papers.
Because online case initiation is not available for divorce, you must file these final documents with the court yourself in person, by mail, or by email. See our page on Filing Procedures for help on how to file.
