Reference Help

Whether you're looking for a form, need help with online research, want to research Utah's historical statutes or are tackling something in between, law library staff can help.

Law library staff cannot do your research for you, or provide legal advice. Please see our Legal Research & Advice policy for more information.

 

Public Computers

The law library provides public computers that can be used in accordance with our Computer Use Policy. See our Computer Resources page for a list of available databases.

 

Checkout Policy

By state law, only specific groups of state government employees may check out materials from the law library. All others are welcome to use materials in the library.

 

Presentations

We offer free presentations for the public on a variety of legal topics.

 

Copiers

Our self-service copiers accept coins and one and five dollar bills. You can also pay for copies with Visa or MasterCard, or with a check. Copies are 20¢ per page.

 

Document Delivery

Use our document delivery service to request a copy of something from our collection.

 

Microforms

Some library materials are on microfiche or microfilm. The law library has a microform reader/printer. Copies are 20¢ per page.

 

Prisoner Requests

We provide a copy service for prisoners in Utah and extremely limited service to prisoners other states.

 

Wireless

The Utah State Courts offer free wireless access in many courthouses, including the Matheson Courthouse where the State Law Library is located. See our Wireless Access in the Courts page for more information.
