Laura Thompson is General Counsel for the Utah Department of Human Services and a Utah Assistant Attorney General. She is a nationally recognized legal specialist in child welfare law and a certified FINRA Public Arbitrator. Ms. Thompson's practice focuses on behavioral health and privacy law, juvenile law, and legislative support to DHS. She has defended the State in three class action suits in federal court alleging civil rights violations. Ms. Thompson was in private practice for twelve years practicing domestic and criminal law, and has served as a mediator in domestic and civil cases, and is trained in restorative justice.
