JUDGE ROBERT VAN DYKE
Judge Robert C. Van Dyke was appointed to the Sixth District Court by Gov. Spencer Cox, and took the oath of office in April 2025. He serves Kane, Garfield, Sanpete, Sevier, Piute, and Wayne counties. Judge Van Dyke received a law degree from the University of Utah S. J. Quinney School of law in 2009 where he was a William H. Leary Scholar. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies and a music minor from Utah State University in 2005. After graduating from law school, Judge Van Dyke worked as a Deputy Kane County Attorney from 2010 to 2013 and then as the Kane County Attorney from 2013 to 2025 when he was appointed to the bench. During this time he played a central role in establishing the Kane County Recovery Court, the Kane County Children’s Justice Center, and the Kane County Sexual Assault Response Team. Judge Van Dyke also served as the general counsel for the Kane County Water Conservancy District for over ten years and maintained a small private practice focusing mainly on probate and estate planning. 4/25
